After a rough day and an even more rough drive home(I almost got hit because someone was being a meany), I felt SO full of stress and knew I didn’t want to hang onto it. Happiness is a choice and it takes major effort to let go of the stress of the day and feel calm and happy, but it’s SO necessary.
I knew a run would do me some good and I also knew that thunderstorms were predicted for today, so I decided to get my run in a day earlier than planned.
I immediately changed into my running gear before I sat down to make sure I got out the door.

{ ignore the unmade bed behind me. it’s totally an illusion. ;) }

I always listen to Pandora on my runs. I use different stations depending on my mood. Today I really needed calm, happy, relaxing music.

{ a little Brett Dennen for the road. }
Within minutes of my run, my Garmin died. I wanted to get three miles in so I just ran a path I knew well. It was nice to not worry about how long I had to go. I did a loop and just went. It was the longest run I’ve done in a while and it was actually pretty hot still, even in the evening. Florida weather has definitely returned. Still, I felt my stress melt away and by the time I got home I was a happy girl. We all have those things that make us feel better, for me it’s my quiet time reading my bible, listening to music, time with my husband, journaling, running and watching Friends reruns. I make sure to do those things when I need a bit of a pick-me-up. Works every time!
I don’t have work today(I work about 2-3 days a week) and it’s rainy, so it’s looking like a day of cleaning and laundry is on the agenda. I’m also hoping for a nice long walk once this stormy weather clears up, it’s supposed to be nice and cool tonight and I plan on taking full advantage of it by opening the windows and being outside a bit.
Hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday!
P.S. Thank you for your suggestions on what I should get for my free Starbucks birthday drink. I haven’t gotten it yet, but I will very soon!

Running is the ultimate stress reliever for me! I always feel so much better after I pound it out/sweat it out on the road.
Jealous you’re running in shorts and a tank top by the way :P
Ha, sorry. I’m not bragging, promise! I actually hate it. At 6 PM it’s 90 degrees and that’s most of the year. Not the ideal running weather, but you make do. I want more cooler weather. A happy medium would be nice, at least. ;)
Good for you for acknowledging that happiness is a choice! Glad your run made you feel better.
Thanks! I’ve always wanted to be one of those super positive people and while it’s not natural for me, I’m working on it! Realizing the little ways that can make you feel better and doing them, helps!
I love running with pandora! I always get sick of the music I have so I like the change!
Agreed! Sometimes I have a playlist on my iPod, if there are a bunch of songs that I love at the moment and I know will pump me up. Especially a race. But usually, I’m a Pandora listener.
I love your purple running top – super cute and comfy looking! :)
And here’s to better weather coming your way soon!
It’s a lulu top!! My favorite, It’s loose and super light, perfect!
I have that Garmin… and I’m almost positive those are Ghost3 running shoes…? If so, I have them, too!
Once recently my Garmin died about 1/4 mile into what was supposed to be a 3 mile quick run… I ended up just running and running and next thing I knew it was 45 minutes later when I was back at my stoop! Time flies when you do what you love!
Exactly! I loved it. :) No need to keep checking my wrist. Although, I just got my Garmin for Christmas so I’m still a bit obsessed with it. I just NEVER remember to charge it! As far as my running shoes, they are actually Defyance 4s!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who will listen to calm, relaxing music sometimes when I run! I’ve had a number of people tell me it is really odd that I listen to that type of music instead of “pump up music” somedays.
Oh man, if I can get lost in a great song that’s totally calm or just light and happy, it’s l amazing. I can’t do some of the typical workout music, it can be a little too much for me. Lately I’m loving Feist or Florence and The Machine, good music just makes me happy. :)
I’ll have to check those tunes out!
Ahh I didn’t know about your blog over here until I saw your guest post on Kailey’s blog! Glad I found it :)
YAY! So glad you did too. :)
Brett Dennen’s “Sydney” is one of my favorite songs right now. It’s always good for a pick me up!
